Welcome to the Academy of Steve Curran Karate & Fitness!
The Academy was founded by Steve Curran and opened our doors in 1977. We are an inclusive and diverse dojo and welcome students of all ages, skill levels and interests. It is our belief that everyone can benefit from learning self-defense skills and encourage prospective students (and parents) to visit and ask questions. We teach American Freestyle Karate with an emphasis on flexible fighting styles and traditional kata (forms). During our classes we encourage and teach participation, respect for others, self-discipline, confidence, and resilience.
In 2025, Steve retired and the dojo was purchased by head instructor Hanshi Lyle Maines. While the dojo will be undergoing some changes we hope to provide the same great family-friendly atmosphere and service as always.
